‘NINGOL’-GIRLS’ EDUCATION PROGRAM RELEASE AND AWARD FUNCTION 
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 01, 2013 AT MALIGAON


                A welfare scheme entitled “NINGOL”- Girls’ Education Program was launched by Meingal, a Guwahati based socio-welfare society on 1st September, 2013 at East Gotanagar, at Sanatan Vidyamandir School near Phani Sharma Goal Park, Maligaon. The scheme was introduced with the aim to extend monthly financial aid at different rates from Class-I to X to girl students specifically who belong from financially weak background and from the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. Reshmita Sinha, aged 6 years reading in Class-II, the only daughter of a widow mother is the first girl student enrolled under this education program and she will avail the benefits of the scheme till she completes her class-Xth . The scheme was launched by Shri Jagatjyoti Sinha, spiritually devoted, social worker and senior citizen of the area. He expressed his hopefulness that this scheme will definitely help many deprived girl students who are unable to pursue their school education in the cities and towns due to high school fees and other cost of school items. He also urged people to come forward to make this noble cause success and increase the participation of more people in strengthening the functioning of the organisation.  
                     

                In the function, Rishita Sinha another girl child aged 8 years, was felicitated with the ‘Meingal Excellence Award-2013’ which includes a cash award of Rs.1000/-, a certificate of excellence and a momento for her excellent performance in Chess tournaments at different international, national and state levels at her tender age.  She is the daughter of Ranadeep Sinha and Monimala Sinha of Chandmari area who belong from the Bishnupriya Manipuri community and a student of class-III of St. Mary’s H.S. School, Guwahati. Shri Bisheswar Sarma, a social worker and adviser of Meingal awarded the little talented chess player with the award. The award is introduced on the day with an aim to felicitate and give recognition to students, youths and women for their multi-disciplinary talents in various fields. Biswaprasad Sinha, advocate of Gauhati High Court present on the occasion also welcomed the noble initiatives taken by the NGO and extended best wishes for success of the scheme. Among other speakers were social workers Sunil Kr. Sinha, Narendra Sinha and Smt. Lakhirani Sinha.
  


                On this day, the Meingal team and other distinguished guests also distributed art stationery items to some of the young students of the Sanatan Vidyamandir School. Sanjib Sinha, Secretary General and Mihir Sinha, Vice-Chairman of the NGO addressed the gathering with their warm welcome speech and concluding speech as well as vote of thanks respectively.

“NINGOL”GIRLS’ EDUCATION PROGRAM (NGEP)
Under Meingal’s Education Project - 2013

 Mission - ‘EDUCATE TO EMPOWER GIRL CHILD’


 MEINGAL has initiated girl’s education program w.e.f. August 2013 prioritizing economically backward and unsupported Bishnupriya Manipuri girl children so as to educate, encourage and empower them to lead a dignified life in their future

Many girl children are deprived of education and get dropped out from schooling in the middle of their educational journey because of financial hardship and insufficient income of parents. Meingal NGO is highly delighted to collectively built up “NGEP” i.e. “NINGOL”-GIRLS’ EDUCATION PROGRAM to provide basic necessary educational support to deserving and destitute girl students of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community.

We hope everyone’s good wishes and kind co-operation for success and betterment of this program. We also request likeminded and generous people to come forward to help the NGO in this noble cause as it is a movement for bringing awareness of educating and empowering girls of our community.

  SCHEME DETAILS..
                    
1.     PROJECT TITLE:

The education project is entitled as “NINGOL”- Girl’s Education Program (NGEP).         

The word “NINGOL” is a Bishnupriya Manipuri word which means ‘girl’. This education program is, thus, applicable for the underprivileged girls belong to only Bishnupriya Manipuri community. Bishnupriya Manipuri community have been recognized and categorized under Other Backward Classes in the state of Assam, India.

2.      AIM & MISSION STATEMENT :

     The aim of the scheme is to encourage and facilitate girls for taking school level education properly for building a better future.

      The mission statement of the scheme is ‘EDUCATE TO EMPOWER GIRL CHILD’.

3.     ELIGIBILITY:

i.      Girl student reading from Class-I to Class-X is eligible for this  
        scheme.

ii.      Girl student who belong from economically weak background is entitled to receive the educational allowance. Parents of the girl child employed in Government services, private companies and engaged in business with adequate monthly income are precisely EXCLUDED from the scheme.

4.      SELECTION:

        MEINGAL Executive Body will conduct the selection process.  The body will examine necessary documents and other relevant information to find out the most deserving beneficiary girl child(s) and number of beneficiary students to be benefitted under this scheme.


5.    DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

       The following documents are required to be submitted along with the application form:-

1.               Birth Certificate
2.               Parent’s Income Proof
3.               School Reading Proof or Current Report Card
4.               Last Tuition Fee Receipt (If any)
5.               Xerox Copy of Bank/Postal savings Account Book
6.               Two Photographs of the student
7.               Two Photographs of parents or legal guardian(if parents not alive)
8.               One Family Photograph
9.               One Xerox Copy of Ration Card (if issued)
10.           One Xerox copy of BPL Card (if issued)


6.    EDUCATIONAL   ALLOWANCE   RATE:

   The educational allowance is fixed at different rates for different classes are given in the following table:-

7.    PROCEDURE OF GRANTING EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCE:

      The educational allowance will be paid monthly according to the item no. 6 above.

      The allowance will be credited monthly through IFSC/RTGS/Online bank payment. The payment will be directly credited to the Savings Bank A/c opened in the name of the beneficiary student or the parent’s name according to our prior instructions to the Bank.

      In case of a minor beneficiary student, the bank account opened in the name of the student can be operated by the parents according to bank rules and written authorization from the “Meingal NGO” with seal and Signature will be provided for the same. The Bank passbook has to be regularly updated by the beneficiary party.


8.    TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

i.        Parents are directed to submit the xerox copies of the monthly School Tuition Fee receipts and Annual Progress report card at the NGO’s office or to the concerned executive member to avail the dedicated benefit of the scheme regularly at the start of each academic session.

ii.      An Identity-cum-Information booklet will be issued to the beneficiary party to maintain records of receipts of the monthly allowances provided by the NGO.

iii.    Parents/beneficiary is directed to receive our phone calls to co-operate whenever  required.

iv.     In case of any changes in permanent address or present address should be informed in written to the NGO office. 

v.       Parents/Guardians of the beneficiary have to attend our meetings if invited.

vi.      In case of any grievances, Parents/Guardians of the beneficiary should directly call us or come to our office to discuss with our Executive Body.
