GIRL STUDENT ENROLLED UNDER ‘NINGOL’- GIRLS’ EDUCATION PROGRAM


         A girl student was enrolled by MEINGAL under it's welfare scheme - “NINGOL” : Girls’ Education Program in a function held on 23rd March, 2014, Sunday at 11:00 hrs. at B. P. Chalihanagar, Bamunimaidan, Guwahati.  The beneficiary girl student Archana Sarma aged 12 years 7 months, reading in class-VII is the daughter of Ramchandra Sarma (father) and Alpana Sarma (mother) and she belongs from B. P. Chaliha Nagar, Bamunimaidan. She is the second girl child enrolled under this scheme. She will be provided with a lumpsum monthly educational allowance of Rs.750/- per month w.e.f. January, 2014 to December, 2015 for the classes-VII & VIII, Rs.900 p.m. in class-IX (12 months) and Rs.1000/- p.m. in class-X (12 months). 


           The Identity-cum-Information Booklet and an educational kit bag was given to Archana Sarma by Smt. Taraboti Sarma, wife of Bisweswar Sarma, Adviser of Meingal in the function. In the welcome speech, Sanjib Sinha, Vice Chairman of the NGO introduced about the purpose and details of the scheme. Mihir Sinha, Vice-Chairman of the NGO and Secretary General of the NGO Jolly Sarma also addressed the audience. 

          This education program specially for girl students was launched on 1st September, 2013. The scheme was introduced with the aim to extend monthly financial aid at different rates from Class-I to X to girl students specifically who belong from below poverty level and from the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. Reshmita Sinha, aged 6 years, was the first girl student enrolled under this education program who will avail the benefits of the scheme till she completes her class-Xth                    

           At the end of the program, educational kits were distributed to some children of the locality present in the function.
